GIS Technical Specialist
 
Peoples GIS Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the Peoples ESRI GIS and data systems are up-to-date and accurate.  The position will provide support for the gas operations, construction, and engineering teams.  This position requires the use of ArcMap 10.x and its various processes and workflows.  The position will provide support for various strategic initiatives and will work under the direction of the Lead GIS Specialist.
 

Duties

  • Digitize assets and attribute data into production GIS from construction and engineering as-built documentation
  • Ad-hoc map production for wide-ranging business needs
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple strategic initiatives and projects with and without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
 

Qualifications / requirements

  • Associates degree in Geography, GIS, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Arcgis10.x
  • Experience with programming languages like python is preferred
  • Utility and /or oil and gas experience preferred
  • Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft applications particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Microstation and/or Autocad is a plus
  • Knowledge of GIS database structures and process flows is preferred
  • Knowledge of natural gas pipeline distribution and transmission systems is preferred
 

Working Conditions:

  • Position based out of 375 North Shore Drive
  • Travel to ~10% of field shop locations and travel beyond Pittsburgh representing the company
  • Perform sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
  • See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity
